Looking at this gallery, you can instantly see the amount of hard work and detail that our bride put into making this day not just so Pinterest-worthy but filled with special pieces that created the wedding day of their dreams!
So without further ado and in no particular order, our favorite things from Kelly and Ryan’s day:
- They had a destination wedding on a Wednesday; we’re big believers that a less-than-convenient wedding location and day means that only the people that love you the most will make their best efforts to be there and we love to see it.
- The guest list wasn’t massive. Every couples’ community is different and there are lots of reasons you might choose to have a smaller or larger guest count, but this group of 50ish guests was perfect for Kelly and Ryan and probably our favorite size of wedding to capture.
- Sedona. So dang beautiful and I could shoot here for every wedding for the rest of my career and never get sick of it.
- The triangular cabins they stayed in and got ready in were so cool. I would come back to this resort for a vacation for sure.
- The trail right behind the venue is called The Slim Shady trail and I just think that’s really funny.
- Kelly’s hair. So beautiful it’s ridiculous.
- They didn’t stick to the traditional when it came to their wedding party. Kelly wanted bridesmaids but Ryan didn’t want to do groomsmen so that’s exactly what they did. There are no rules when it comes to your wedding and these two nailed it when it came to embracing that.
- After the Tone. If you’re planning your wedding and you haven’t heard of this… you need to. One of THE most creative guest books of all time that allows your guests to use an old-timey telephone to record an audio message congratulating you and sharing your love. After the tone will then share the audio file with you so you can hear all of your loved ones’ voices forever. They ALSO give you the option to turn the audio file into a record! So stinking cool and I so wish this was a thing when we got married!
- The beer burro. How cute is it to have a little donkey walk around your desert cocktail hour so your guests can grab beers and feed him little carrots?? It’s such an Arizona vibe and I’m here for it.
- Worth noting again: the incredible details: the table settings, the cake, the Polaroids, the neon sign and photo booth, the cool bartender, and the string-lit dance floor. This has to be one of the most beautiful receptions I’ve ever seen.
- Their timeline. This couple chose one of our smaller packages (meaning fewer hours of coverage) so they had to choose what parts of the day to prioritize. They knew that they weren’t gonna spend all night on the dance floor and they really valued all the time they would spend with their closest people getting ready for their ceremony and having a quiet and romantic time together during their first look so they chose to prioritize that in their timeline.
- Sparkler cake cutting; because we didn’t stay till the very end of the reception but the couple still wanted to capture sparklers in some way, we decided to have the guests to a sparkler photo op right after they cut the cake and I personally am so happy with how these turned out!
All around a gorgeous day celebrating these two and their love. We can’t wait to capture more Sedona weddings and elopements. Curious about what it would look like to have us capture your special day? Head to the contact page on our website to connect with us!
